1,000 Physicians

In August, Dr. Cleopatra Thurman, vascular neurologist and Medical Director of Erlanger’s Stroke Program, helped lead Erlanger’s first INTERCEPT trial, designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a permanent bilateral common carotid artery filter to prevent strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation (A-Fib). “This milestone reflects Erlanger’s commitment to advancing stroke prevention through research and bringing promising innovative therapies to patients in our region,” said Dr. Thurman.

Dr. Thurman also serves as Associate Program Director for the Neurology Residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she plays a critical role in training the next generation of neurologists. She is one of Erlanger’s 1000 physicians who daily live out our mission to compassionately care for patients.
