David Lee, Ambassador
“Do you need a ride today? Where can I drive you?”
That’s the greeting many patients hear when they visit Erlanger Baroness Hospital, and they’ve been hearing it for the past few decades from David Lee, an employee ambassador who just marked his 46th year with the company. David drives the cart that transports patients from the parking garage to the elevators, many of whom recognize him after years of interactions. “They know about my grandkids, and I know what doctor they’re going to. I don’t even have to ask.”
“There’s no bad day on the job.”
David’s seen many changes during his more than four decades at Erlanger. He remembers when Baroness had hotel rooms for visitors who wanted to stay close to their loved ones, and when a barber and beauty shop occupied the space where the bank now sits. Of his many years with the hospital, he says it’s helped him keep things in perspective. “You may not feel great or you have worries on your mind, but when you come in here and see what people are going through, it makes you thankful. And these people—they brighten my day so much, I don’t feel like I’m working.”
