Claire Peacock and Nancy Monroe – Gift Shop Dynamic Duo
Nancy Monroe and Claire Peacock met and became friends in the late 1980s when their kids played high school soccer together and briefly worked together at Chattanooga State for a time. Years later, when they were randomly assigned as work partners to volunteer for the Erlanger Baroness Gift Shop, the pair was delighted.
“We both looked at each other and said, ‘Hey, I know you!’”
Both women have donated time in other capacities at Erlanger over the years and currently spend four hours a week working together in the gift shop. They share that they meet many nice people during their shifts, and Nancy likens the hospital volunteer experience to a type of ministry, as they often see people during very stressful times and appreciate the chance to support those who are struggling. Both agree that their friendship keeps them looking forward to Mondays. Claire says, “I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else!”
